Gymna was founded in 1967 as a total supplier for physiotherapy equipment in Belgium. Gymna decided to develop their own brand of electro medical devices and couches and started to expand in France and Holland with branch offices. In those countries Gymna has developed a good customer reputation.
Uniphy was founded in 1979 as an innovative producer of electro medical devices for physiotherapists, initially in Holland but expanding abroad rapidly. In 1989, Uniphy introduced its first export product with integrated vacuum and patented 4-pole rotating vector field to determine the trigger points. This unique product was the first on the market with an indication menu, language selection and an LCD screen.
Over the years that stretched from the 1980's to the 1990's, both Gymna and Uniphy continued its tradition of product and service innovation. In 1997, Uniphy took over the shares from Gymna and a new company was born: Innovative Medical Solutions with its companies Uniphy in Holland, and Gymna in Belgium. Backstage R&D engineers of both companies worked closely together to introduce the GTS (guided therapy systems) in the newest Gymna and Uniphy products, with integrated help screens for evidence-based treatment at Medica 1999. In that same year, IMS acquired a part of TUR in Berlin, an innovative designer and manufacturer of specialty products, i.e. high frequency electrotherapy appliances, cold therapy and whole body vibration devices. The company was named Uniphy Elektromedizin.
In 2001 the merger between Gymna and Uniphy was completed by establishing the company GymnaUniphy and moving Uniphy into the premises of Gymna in Belgium.
In 2002 Uniphy Elektromedizin developed an innovative series of vibration plates named fitvibe 600, fitvibe medical and fitvibe medical pro. This series helps us to reach many new customers in the wellness and medical markets. With the ageing of the world population, the fitvibe products contribute in the prevention of osteoporoses, improve muscular strengths, reduce pain and contribute to the well-being of individuals.
Today, GymnaUniphy's name is synonymous with innovation and excellence. Having established a reputation for quality, GymnaUniphy is now a world player in the area of physical therapy and revalidation and is on its way to become the leader in the area of medical applications for Whole Body Vibration with the different fitvibe vibration plates.
